CHIEF SCOUT'S APPEAL 15/09/2002
SHOUTING FOR SCOUTING - Good News Sought Last year, thanks to a great deal of information received from Members, we were able to identify hundreds of examples of local Scouting making a specific and very positive contribution to the life of its local community. This year we want to flush out all the ‘good news’ that is around in the largest co-educational Movement for young people in the UK. The intention is to share widely some of the many positive achievements that often remain known to only the few directly involved. It may be that a new Group has opened to meet a need in a new housing development? Possibly a Group or a District has opened an after school club or is pioneering a new way to deliver Scouting to rural communities? Perhaps you were involved in an overseas project that made a difference to the lives of young people? You might have been the District that grew is Membership by 37% last year? Perhaps you put the Movement in the public eye in a spectacular manner? Please reflect on what has happened recently in your Scouting world to which we could attach a large flag saying “The Good News from Scouting is……………” and then tell us about it. All contributions welcome. Please email them to Public.relations@scout.org.uk
