The Explorer Belt

(reference Unit Essentials P)
The Explorer Belt is now open to all Scouts
between the ages of 16 and 25.
In order to gain the Explorer Belt it is
necessary to carry out the following activities:
 |
Plan and train for an international
expedition. |
 |
Travel through another country for ten days. |
 |
Complete one major and ten minor projects. |
 |
Keep a notebook throughout the expedition. |
 |
Take part in a debriefing afterwards. |
 |
Make a presentation about the expedition. |
The Explorer Belt is now an integral part of the
programme for 16 - 25 year olds. The key part of the Belt is the
travelling through another country and learning about it's people's way of life.
Planning and training are an essential part of
the Explorer Belt. it is not purely a physical challenge. Some use
of public transport may be appropriate. Many Explorer Belt expeditions are
being organised on a County / Area basis for groups of young people to opt into.
